About Us
How It All Started
KML Auctions is a husband & wife partnership ran by Ian and Lorraine located 3 miles east of Durham City, UK. It started its life as a hobby of Ian’s selling used 60’s and 70’s audio equipment record players. Realising the potential, Lorraine (housewife & mother of two) set up shop selling new products on eBay in August 2004. Husband Ian who then worked full time guided the business, sourcing and listing products on eBay while Lorraine turned her kitchen into her work place pre-packing products and making many daily trips to her local Post Office.
In June 2007 after 31 years of loyal service as an After Sales Manager with Reg Vardy PLC Ian was made redundant following the take over of the company. In his time with Reg Vardy Ian had gained much valuable business experience working for the most successful and profitable Motor Dealer in the UK. Expecting redundancy to happen, Ian had been running a small business from home selling on eBay for some10 months previous. Ian and Lorraine will always tell you that running a business is not rocket science, it’s all about having customers that are completely satisfied with every aspect of their dealings with you. They hold very strong core values and are focused totally on 100% customer satisfaction.
The name KML Auctions came from our daughter’s initials Kelly Marie Laidler and the auctions of course from eBay. Today, although not an auction site, the name goes on providing you products at what we believe are at auction prices.
